We speak to head of marketing Millie Dyson:

What is the best thing about being in the secured loan business?

I have always had a soft spot for the secured loan industry. It’s competitive, fast paced and ever-changing. The people who work in it are the best thing, I love how everyone mucks in together to try to get it back to the pre credit crunch days.

What keeps you focussed?

The desire to excel in something I’m passionate about (and whiskey).

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

A person who uses their initiative and has a positive mental attitude is a must, especially when working with others.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

A bit of both, depending on the situation.

What did you want to be as a child?

I wanted to be a fighter pilot. Unfortunately, my dreams were shattered when I realised I’d remain 5’2” for the rest of my life. I don’t think jets come with booster seats.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the secured loan industry in the coming months?

Rebuilding consumer confidence. There are too many negative stories flying around at the moment. I think the latest banking scandal will make consumers retreat, taking us all back a few steps in regaining trust.

Who or what makes you laugh?

I’m a sucker for sharp wit or people who don’t even realise they’re funny. People with expressive faces, like Russell Howard and Lee Evans, always guarantee a belly laugh.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

I dread most mornings. I don’t come to life until about 10am, after my third coffee.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I envy patient people.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

It’s a toss-up between William Shakespeare and Nigella Lawson.
